Healdsburg’s Madrona Manor – First Impressions

Madrona Manor's main entrance gates

My first visit to Madrona Manor was for a job interview. As a Healdsburg resident I had driven past the entrance archway many times, either on my way to visit one of the local wineries or on a bike ride through the beautiful Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys.

For some reason though, I never ventured through the entrance to take a peek. The archway gives you a sense that something great lies ahead, but you really can’t glimpse the property from the road, and nothing prepares you for what is up the hill. So here I was on my first visit, a bit nervous about the interview and in a very different state of mind than most who visit Madrona Manor. Never the less I was overwhelmed by the magnificent Mansion, the beautiful gardens and the expansive views. So much so, I said “wow” out loud, alone in my car.

Now, in my ninth year working here (I got the job!), I am still inspired every day. I continue to have “wow” moments. Madrona Manor speaks to those of us who work here the same way it speaks to guests of the hotel, diners in the restaurant and couples who choose the estate as their wedding site. This place is special. Around every corner is a new spectacular view, something new in bloom, a new comfortable place to relax and an amazing culinary experience that starts in our organic gardens.

If you have never been to Madrona Manor and are planning a first visit, or if you are a previous guest longing to come back, those of us who work here hope to use this blog as a way to share our stories with you. We hope you are as inspired as we are.
